I am finally feeling ready to let go of my Winter uniform of cashmere, leather and faux fur as the hope of Spring draws closer. It’s still chilly but it’s soon going to be all about clever layering, introducing colour, cropped trousers, midi skirts and getting out the much-loved fashion trainers once more.

This is where having the right “layer” is key and this time of year my clients are always asking me to find the perfect transitional cardigan – it’s not as easy as one might think.

Providing an extra layer of warmth, it needs to effortlessly complete an outfit, while still fitting under a lightweight coat or trench and the right piece should be stylish, elegant and modern.

The Button Pea Cardi ticks all of these boxes. It’s an oversize style but fits beautifully at the shoulders, with fabulous pockets and in fine merino wool, it can easily be layered. It’s a hugely versatile piece so that when done up it acts more as a sweater but open, it’s a jacket style which easily works with both slim fit trousers or skirts so it can be dressed up or down. It’s a refreshing and unique take on a classic.

How I styled mine....

Floral dress – team it with this kimono style floral dress from KJ’s Laundry.

Neutrals – I love a neutral and the cardigan works beautifully with high waisted white denim and this cropped lace blouse from Justine Tabak.

Statement blouse – layer it over a bold colour, like this vintage Valentino blouse in electric blue satin.
